What is Teacher ASSIST
TeacherASSIST gives teachers the ability to create feedback for their students for any problem they have selected. The feedback can be in the form of Hints or Explanations (see glossary below) and teachers can choose between text or video format. The feedback will then be delivered to students if they get a problem wrong (see glossary for timing options). Any teacher already using ASSISTments can turn this feature on and only your students will see the hints and explanations you create.
What makes TeacherASSIST powerful is it's ability to become a crowdsourcing tool. Teachers can apply to be Star-Teachers. Any hint created by a Star-Teacher will be delivered to all students using the content. If more than one Star-Teacher has created feedback for one problem the system will randomly deliver the feedback to students and test which is better by noting how well the student does on the next problem. If you have started building feedback apply to be a Star-Teacher, email us at [email protected]

Preferences for Teacher ASSIST
The default preference leaves the delivery of hints and explanations up to the student. This video shows how to adjust the delivery.
Hint: Text or video that helps a student in solving a problem. It does not give a way the answer.
Set of Hints: Hints that follow each other, the last one does not give the answer.
Explanation: Text or video that completely describes how to solve a problem. The answer is included.
Partial Credit Attempts: Students will get partial credit after so long as they are within the set number of attempts "N". This number "N" is set at 3 for a default but the teacher can change that under "Credit Settings" in Preferences. This number is used for Hint and Explanation Delivery.
Hint Delivery Preferences: Teacher can choose between Students Requesting Hints or Hints Automatically Displaying. For "Students Requesting Hints" the hint button will 1) always be available, 2) be available after a set number of hints or 3) after the partial credit is over. If the "Hints Automatically Displaying" feature is turned on the hints will automatically show up after each attempt once the partial credit is exhausted, there will never be a button.
Explanation Delivery Preferences: Teacher can choose between Students Requesting Explanation or Explanation Automatically Displaying. For "Students Requesting Explanation" the explanation button will 1) always be available, 2) be available after a set number of hints or 3) after the partial credit is over. If the "Explanation Automatically Displaying" feature is turned on the explanation will automatically show up after the partial credit is exhausted, there will never be a button.
